This mug was made by throwing 2 separate mugs on the potters wheel using speckled stoneware clay. The inside mug was trimmed soon after throwing and attached inside the other form. Once the mug was dry enough, it was trimmed and the handle was attached. Then the dragonfly design was planned and then carefully pierced through. Then it was smoothed and left to slowly dry completely. The piece was then bisque-fired, glazed white and fired again. The gold was hand-painted on and it was fired one last time to this finished product.
