Hand-building Class (7 weeks)

Unleash your creativity and discover the art of hand-building in this engaging pottery class! Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, this course focuses on techniques that don't require a pottery wheel. Learn to transform slabs, coils, and pinch pots into unique sculptural and functional pieces. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each step, helping you create beautiful bowls, cups, and more. No experience necessary – just a willingness to get a little messy and have a lot of fun! For ages 16+

Details

This class will run for seven weeks, 2.5 hours per week starting on July 10th.  This class is great for beginners as well as people who have some pottery experience.  

Class dates & times: 

7/10: 5-7:30pm: Week 1:  Learning clay basics and demos.  Make a pinch pot

7/17: 5-7:30pm:  Week 2: Make coil pots, continue with pinch pots

7/24: 5-7:30pm:  Week 3: Make pots using slabs of clay and molds

7/31: 5-7:30pm:  Week 4: Learn how to add extras, carve, etc.

8/7: 5-7:30pm: Week 5: Finish all wet work this week!

SKIP WEEK 8/11 for firings

8/21: 5-7:30pm: Week 6: Glazing basics

8/28: 5-7:30pm: Week 7:  Continue glazing, wrap up class and celebrations

This class Includes

       Class shelves to keep work wet in between classes

       Use of all community studio tools

       Use of all community glazes

       Extra studio time during open studio hours

What you will need to purchase/bring separately

          Please bring towels and/or apron to help keep yourself clean!

          Clay! You can choose out of several types of clay, found here on the website.  The purchase of clay includes all firings.  Please note, only clay purchased in the studio may be used.
