8 week Intermediate Clay Class

8 week Intermediate Clay Class

8-Week Intermediate Pottery: Elevate Your Skills

This 8-week course is designed for potters who are comfortable with the basics of wheel throwing and handbuilding. If you can consistently center clay, throw a cylinder, and have a good understanding of the firing process, this is the perfect class to take your work to the next level.

Over the course of eight weeks, we will move beyond fundamental forms and explore more complex techniques. This class is focused on skill-building and developing a personal style. You'll have the opportunity to work on projects such as:

  • Throwing larger forms: Learn how to throw bigger pieces by working with more clay or joining sections together.
  • Altering forms: Discover how to manipulate and alter a piece after it's been thrown to create unique, non-symmetrical shapes.
  • Lidded pots: Master the art of creating multi-part pieces with perfectly fitted lids.
  • Advanced handle pulling and attachments: Refine your handle-making skills and learn how to attach them with a professional finish.
  • Surface decoration: Dive into a variety of decorative techniques, from sgraffito and carving to slip trailing and advanced glazing.

Through a mix of demonstrations, guided practice, and personalized feedback, you will gain the confidence to tackle more challenging projects and develop a deeper understanding of your craft. Come join a supportive community of fellow potters and push the boundaries of what you can create.
